When I flew from Charles De Gaulle airport to Schipol in November I remember flying over the boarder of Holland where it met the ocean. I snapped some pictures of the boats and oceans and to my surprise I actually saw multiple turbine fields out in the ocean! It turns out that the Netherlands is the first country to implement wind turbines in the ocean. This is a very effective and resourceful idea because it eliminates the visual impact and utilizes the higher offshore winds found on the ocean. The 383 million euro "Q7 Wind Park" development located 14 miles off of the Dutch North Coast is estimated to have the capability to provide enough electricity for 125,000 households!(Reuters)

you can see the turbine field in the background
In my opinion its about time we started implementing the ocean for natural energy, there are also machines that create energy from the currents of waves which we can only hope will start being used in the future. Im glad the NL is leading the way with creativity in a time of much change and global conflict. The increasing pressure of the undeniable truths of Global Warming are pushing scientists and thinkers of our time to new levels of ingenuity and creation! Who knows what systems we will have implemented within the next 50 years? All I can hope for is that we start treating our earth better! Do your part and ride your bike once in a while, it's the little things that count on a large scale!
